Journal Two from Cole
Hi, my name is Cole. I grew up in Mount Gilead but currently live in Upper Sandusky. I am majoring in business but would like to narrow it down more to marketing. I work at Lowes here in Marion, unloading trucks and stocking shelves in the evenings. I'm a huge Ohio sports fan, yes even the Browns. I played football all 4 years in high school, my senior year I was named an All-Conference defensive back. In the little free time I have, I enjoy playing Xbox and hanging out with my friends.
The theme that stood out to me most was that Esperanza felt like she didn't fit in. Her home wasn't an acceptable place to be proud of, to point at. She wants to be able to fit in with everyone else and have a home she can be proud of. This stood out the me because it's an odd thing to be self-conscious about. You would think she'd be more concerned with the way people thought she dressed or looked but she only cared about their thoughts of her house.

I agree with you, that her house was something she was worried about. Normally girls pay attention to what they wear and would like to fit in.
ReplyDeleteGood theme! I also agree that she didnt fit in.
ReplyDeleteI as well went to Mount Gilead! Do you ever feel like you want to go back?
