Journal 4 Bailee Patton

In the chapter Hips on page 49 Rachel starts talking about how one day you wake up and they are just there. She describes what she uses hips for and why they are so important. I find the whole chapter funny because its so true. One day you just have hips. I think the theme here is age. Age is what brings people their  hips. Where i think the writing is at its best is when Rachel says is " Bones got to give, but don't have to many or your behind will spread. Its such a sad truth for many people. Theirs many good metaphors in this chapter one of my favorites it " one day you wake up and there they are. ready and waiting like a new Buick with the keys in the ignition." (page 49)

When i think of influences i think of my neighbor kyle. He was like an older brother to me. Kyle had good and bad influences on me as a kid. He used to babysit me we would play hide and go seek and play tag. he used to have me hide then him and my brother wouldn't even look for me i would hide for hours.  I used to want to be just  like him. i thought he was so cool, he was always popular and i remember how funny he was, he used to help out the younger kids with football and wrestling, but he also got into trouble he broke into an "abandoned" house that wasn't actually abandoned. He did this with the influence of other bad friends as well. He used to help me read and write and teacher me how to wrestle, but i was mainly the practice dummy for him and my brother. He really is a good guy, he served in the air force for 6 years in Italy. He came home last week and that is why i decided to write about him.

  1. That's funny. Some of my best friends would break into abandoned houses also.
