Journal Five- Alyssa

I love both music and poetry, I don't have a particular poet that is my favorite though. In 2004 I wrote a poem titled, "The Feeling". I submitted it online and I was chose to have mine published in a book that my grandpa purchased for me. Unfortunately, over the years I lost the book and have searched all over the internet for the poem. No luck.
I love music, all kinds. Country music I favor the most, I love older (90s) country. I still listen to it a lot now, to bring back memories from when my mom was still around. Its like I can feel the car ride, with the windows down, belting out, "Thunder Rolls" by Garth Brooks. As if time stood still, even for a moment. Before my mom passed, an artist that became a favorite of hers, and my sisters and I was Le Ann Womack. I remember my aunt getting her the CD for christmas. Her, my sisters and I cried as we sang one of her songs called, "I hope you dance" together. My favorite lyrics from the song are, "May you never take one single breath for granted, god forbid love ever leave you empty handed. I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean, whenever one door closes I hope one more opens, promise me that you'll give faith a fighting chance, and when you get the choice to sit it out or dance, I hope you dance". Still gives me chills thinking about it.

Lee Ann Womack, a women I looked up to at 14 years old, who makes me think of my mom, and just all around a great artist.
